Armed Forces Special Immigration Provisions

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services is keeping up with the times by streamlining their application and naturalization procedures for military personnel. This applies to those on active duty and recently discharged.

Generally speaking if you are in one the following areas of service, you will qualify: Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Army, some members of the National Guard (ask an immigration lawyer about this) and the selected reserve of the Ready Reserve.

There are some requirements you need to meet prior to becoming a US citizen. Those requirements are be of good moral character, know the English language and the US government and history and take the oath of allegiance.

If you are qualified, then you are exempt from other naturalization rules - including residency and a physical presence in the US. One thing to note about his area of immigration law is that if you are discharged from the Armed Forces for any reason other than under "honorable conditions" before serving five years, you may have your citizenship revoked.

You might not know this, as it is another consequence of 9/11. Immigrants who have served active duty on or after 9/11 are able to file for immediate citizenship under the special wartime provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act. This section also covers other veterans. Ask a knowledgeable immigration lawyer about this.

The other section that may be applicable in your circumstance is if you have already been discharged. To qualify for citizenship the requirements are: honorable service of at least one year, permanent resident status, have filed your application within 6 months of leaving the service or while still in the service.

There are other areas of immigration law that will apply to you and your special circumstances. To find out what those are, you need to speak to an attorney familiar with the laws who will assist you during your application process. Immigration law changes all the time and doing things for yourself will not always work.

Military Weddings

Military weddings are privilege ceremonies for those in cadets or armed forces. These are formal affairs with commanding officers seated rank wise as attendees and the military personnel in formal uniform.

During wedding, the groom and bride are made to walk through an arch of swords. It is believed to ensure the safe transition of the couple into a new life. The arch is arranged by guards of honor who usually wear a saber or sword when in uniform.

Ceremonial Customs

After entering, the couple kisses and passes through the arch. They then salute the honor guard. Thereafter, members sheath sabers or swords, returning to carry position. Based on the synagogue or church rules, the arch is formed either inside or outside the foyer.

Another steel arch tradition is the gentle backside swat that the last swordsman delivers to the bride. Brides are informed about this beforehand so that they don't get unpleasantly surprised.

Cake cutting ceremony occurs either with military sword or a saber sword. The swords are then placed in the scabbard for all but four inches of length. A fear minutes later, the final inches are pushed in, the swords entering with a big click.

Indoor Ceremony

Indoor arch sword ceremony takes place just after the couple rises after receiving blessings. Here, all bridal party members wait till the usher swords are returned before the proceeds.

A carry sabers command is given after the couple passes through the arched sabers. Immediately thereafter, the saber bearers face away from the altar, after which they march down the side aisle. They assemble again with sabers on chapel steps.

Military weddings are one of the best instances of how rituals and traditions lay the foundations to create a truly memorable occasion. This could be easily analyzed from guests who watch the entire proceedings in awe.

Communications Strategy in the Army

Anyone who has ever been a member of the armed forces can vouch for the fact that it is vital to uphold a good communications strategy at all times, and the army is no exception to this rule. As such, those in roles that focus primarily on communications strategies are some of the most valuable recruits. The communications maintenance team in the army is responsible for ensuring that everyone has access to the correct information as and when they need it. They are also accountable for all communications equipment, and for making sure that it is in good working order so that the movements of troops, aircrafts and ships can be tracked at all times.

Electronic Communications Strategies

For centuries, army commanders have relayed orders in one way or another, be it by flag, bugle or walkie-talkie. But today's armies are able to build up clear pictures of enemy forces and their tactics, which allows them to formulate a much more informed and accurate plan for their own troops. There are a number of different electronic systems that help them to create this unrivalled picture of the battleground.

The BOWMAN Communications System

A new tactical system designed to enable the most intricate levels of communications strategy, the BOWMAN system exploits the latest advances in both computer and radio technology, incorporating elements that will service the army for many years to come. The collection of digital radios that comprise the system is designed to transmit large amounts of data digitally, whilst also providing information on the positioning and location of troops. The development of this advanced system will be implemented in the place of existing manual processes that are currently used for commanding on the battlefield, and will greatly improve the efficiency of the army's communications strategies.

The Falcon Secure Trunk Communication System

The Falcon System provides modern and secure communications strategy infrastructures for those formations that have already been deployed, and for non-static operating bases. It delivers the information and technology that allows the army to access networks when on the move. Designed to interact and work alongside the army's existing communication and information systems, the Falcon secure system is also compatible with Nato's systems, ensuring that the army is connected at all times of deployment, be it via telephone or data distribution.

Personal Role Radios

The personal role radios used by the army ensure that each individual soldier has a communications strategy of their own to fall back on. Using a transmitter-receiver, infantry soldiers have the capacity to communicate over short distances, or even through thick building walls. Every member of an eight-strong infantry sector will have a personal role radio, enabling teams to react quickly and effectively to the various rapidly changing situations, and even at times allowing for communication with the enemy.

The battlefield can be an unpredictable place. With so many changing factors, it is imperative that good communications strategies are in place at all times. Electronic systems such as BOWMAN, Falcon and personal role radios enable commanders to keep themselves and the sections they are commanding alert and informed at all times, dramatically increasing the efficiency of those teams that have been deployed.

Financial Aid

Deciding to go to college is a huge financial step, even if it is an online school you are most likely going to need financial aid. Financial aid is not just loans but also government backed grants and scholarships. With so many opportunities out there, it can get a little confusing and sometimes overwhelming. Let's take a look at some steps you will need to look at for securing money for college.

The first thing you will need to look at if you want to borrow money for school is if the school is accredited or not. Accreditation is a national qualification that tells you if the school meets a prescribed educational standard. Most loan providers, the government, and scholarship committees will look to see if the school is national accredited before they will give you any type of financial aid.

The next thing you will want to do is call the schools financial aid office and see what type of assistance you can get in securing financial aid. The school will most likely have some brochures they can send that talks about financial aid and what it means to you. If you have served in the military be sure to mention that, there are extra benefits you can apply for if you have served your country in the armed forces.

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for federal student aid. The form is available online and usually takes about 15 minutes. It doesn't cost anything to fill out the form so don't let anyone try to charge you to fill it out. You can even go or call the school for help in filling it out if you don't understand a question on it.

Don't forget about scholarships! Most of the time new students, especially those who have been out of school for a while forget about the free money available to certain groups of individuals that meet certain standards. The standards range from ethnicity groups to trade groups. You may qualify if your testing skills meet a certain level or if you volunteer in your community. Certain organization and employers also off special scholarships as well.

Military Costumes For Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day occurs each and every year on the third Saturday of May (Tomorrow, May 15th this year). This national day of honor was created to salute the loyalty and hard work of American troops in every branch of the military - Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard. Up until 1949, each branch of the armed forces had their own day of celebration. Unifying these days of tribute into one event, Armed Forces Day was proclaimed to be a national day by President Harry Truman on February 20, 1950.

Fighting for our personal freedoms, members of the United States Armed Forces train hard, work hard and often place themselves in grave danger for the benefit of the greater good. America's military is one of the largest around in terms of manpower, second only to China, with nearly 1, 473,900 active personnel and 1,458,500 reserve personnel. For most of the history of the armed forces, employment has been voluntary although "drafts" have been implemented in various times of war and peace. The US military is a leading force of might and strength around the world with large amounts of high-tech, powerful equipment to provide marked capabilities in defense and creating an image of power.

Wearing military uniforms is a mandatory requirement to being part of the proverbial team; the styles of uniforms vary from branch to branch and have evolved markedly over time. While official rank and number are required to wear a real military uniform, there are many options in navy, marine, air force and army costumes for even the most ardent of military fans. Wearers of military costumes will command lots of attention dressed up in the replica gear and garments of their idolized men and women in uniform. Some military costumes look realistic down to the last brass button while others are strictly for fun, like the super sexy women's costumes from the various armed force branches.

Rightfully portrayed as heroes, it's no wonder that fictional military characters abound in popular culture. From the blazing guns and muscles of big screen, little screen and comic book GI Joe to the Air Force Academy "Top Gun" played by actor Tom Cruise, there are many popular pretend armed forces costumes and costume ideas to choose from. Of course, every army costume, navy costume, marine costume, and air force costume needs costume accessories such as pretend grenades, aviator glasses, army boots, toy machine guns and more!

VA Streamline Refinance - For the Men Who Risked Their Lives For Ours

The VA streamline refinance is one the best options for all those people who have VA loans on their homes. These VA refinance helps them gain a lot of benefits that would ease the burden of paying up the loans that they have taken on their homes. The VA loans unlike other mortgages do not require any complicated procedures like home appraisal to find out the present valued of her home or other procedures like checking if the person meets the credit criteria or other procedures. These loans make it very comfortable for retired service men to get their home refinanced with a better interest rate.

VA loan Network allows the opportunity of refinancing homes to all veterans of the armed forces. The only one thing they look at while offering a loan is whether a not you have defaulted you payments. They make sure to look into your payments and only those people who do not have more than one 30 day late payment are granted the VA streamline refinance mortgage.

Record Rates for Veterans

The VA streamline refinance program is designed to help their war heroes by offering loans at lower rates. They understand the need for this because many people have suffered greatly due to the recession.. Due to the financial crunch the Federal Reserve has decreed the interest rates. This has helped many veterans get loans for very low rates. Moreover the VA streamline refinance mortgage offers its loans at the best rates with low monthly payments making it convenient for veterans to pay up their mortgage.

Where Can Felons Find Jobs?

It is almost impossible for anyone to find a job with felony charges. Organizations, whether big or small avoid hiring convicts or felons so that they can provide a safe working environment to their employees. In addition, organizations want that their work goes on smoothly. The recruitment of any person charged of felony makes it difficult to achieve coordination of all the employees in an organization and thus the organization cannot function smoothly. Also, felons often find it difficult to adapt themselves to the working environment. However, it is important that felons find employment so that they can make a living for themselves and also keep themselves busy so that they do not go back to committing crimes for making a living.

There are number of places where those people who have been convicted of felony can find jobs. People can find a job with felony charges in small organizations where a lot of manual work needs to be done or at construction sites. These convicts can also find jobs with agencies on a temporary basis. These jobs help the felons earn enough so that they can live a decent life.

The United States Army also hires those who have been convicted of a crime. In the Armed forces, a job with felony charges has been started since 2006. However, there is an age limit up to which felons can apply for a job in the armed forces. In addition, the felons also need to get a clearance from the defense services to serve in the armed forces. The Salvation Army also offers a job with felony charges. The Salvation Army requires the felons to work for community welfare so that they can help others.

Internet is also a great place where felons can find jobs. The only thing that felons need is an e-mail address and knowledge about surfing the internet to work from home and get paid for online surveys. These felons do not require any special skills for working for companies that need them to conduct online surveys. In addition, felons do not need to undergo any criminal checks and do not need to mention about their criminal history in their resume. This makes it easy for felons to work, especially those who do not want to disclose their criminal background. These online surveys help felons to earn good amount of money so that they can lead a comfortable life.

Advance Cash Loan Military - Cash Advance Loans For Servicemen

Everyone is quite aware of the fact that people in the armed forces do not earn very high salaries in comparison to people in many other sectors. So, it is quite common for these people to face up with many financial difficulties at various points of time. This necessitates them to take up loans to tide over their problems. It is also frequent for military personnel posted abroad to take loans to overcome their financial matters when they pay a visit home.

As the salaries of the military personnel is not very high, it is a rarity to find them having large savings. In addition, they have to face the brunt of expenses that is quite common to any family like bills, dental and medical expenses, education of the children, etc. For these purposes, a military cash advance loan will definitely help a lot.

Searching for information has become an easy job after the advent of the internet and the World Wide Web. Like finding other important information, knowing about military cash advance loans is also very simple on any search engine. This is the route taken by many a military personnel trying for a cash advance loan. After finalizing on some lender, all that one need to do is fill out an online form and send some additional information and contact details with the proper documentation that is required and the loan amount will be received after approvals.

But, usually the credit rating of military personnel is not very good as most of them would have joined the armed forces at a very young age and not having many years of service. Also, they generally will not be having any substantial assets in their name. For this reason, many banks may reject the application of a cash advance loan. In such a scenario, there are many lenders available online who would be willing to offer cash advance loans to these military persons. But, the personnel borrowing from such companies should be careful to read all the terms and conditions of the loan very carefully as these people charge higher rates of interest.

Since the money borrowed as a military cash advance loan can be used for any purpose, it is very helpful to the servicemen and their families. Many a times, personnel posted away from home like to utilize these loans to a good use like a vacation or taking the kids out for a special outing, etc. This, even though it may sound like not being much would amount to being big for a serviceman or woman with their limited earnings, especially for those who are separated from their families most of the time.

Even though the pay is meager for a military person, it is definitely steady and on time as it is paid out by the government. As the pay is regular and on time, many lending companies are willing to provide cash advance loans as they feel that the risk involved is much lower. So, there are many lending companies that are willing to provide loans in this category. The only precaution that military personnel need to take is to study all the details of the loan before taking it up to prevent being taken for a ride and charged dearly.

(3/5) Timewatch The Battle of the River Plate World War II

SUBSCRIBE TO EXCELLENT WORLD WAR II VIDEOS River Plate, battle of, fought off this South American river on 13 December 1939 between the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee and an Allied naval task force. Admiral Graf Spee, armed with six 28 cm. (11in.) guns, was commanded by Captain Hans Langsdorff. She had left Germany with her supply ship Altmark before war began and later sank nine ships in the Indian Ocean and South Atlantic before her engines began to malfunction. Langsdorff, anxious to increase his score before steaming to Germany for repairs, returned via the River Plate to intercept a convoy he knew was in that area, a move anticipated by Commodore Henry Harwood, whose Force G was one of eight formed to hunt Langsdorff down. Harwood lay in wait with two light cruisers, Ajax and the New Zealand Achilles, and the larger Exeter. (A fourth cruiser, Cumberland, arrived after the battle.) Langsdorff saw the British first and, thinking they were the convoy, he steamed straight at them. In the 80-minute battle which followed Harwood tried to divide the German warship's gunfire by attacking from two directions. But Langsdorff concentrated on Exeter which was soon forced to withdraw, and when Ajax and Achilles were also damaged Harwood disengaged. But instead of driving home his advantage, Langsdorff entered the port of Montevideo in neutral Uruguay that night because, as well as having problems with his engines, his damaged ship was now unseaworthy for the long haul ...

Military Injury

Our armed forces are out there fighting for our country and when they get injured and can't work anymore because of that injury there is not enough help for them. The amount of compensation some of them receive is way below what they should receive.

I believe there should be more help for the injured and I believe they should receive a decent amount of money for an injury, depending on how serious it is. That's why now Military Injury Claims is a big part of solicitors jobs because of how much can be made from these cases.

I agree its a big part. I have been researching claims solicitors handle and they come in many types of cases:

* Injuries sustained on active service
* Injuries sustained on non-active service
* Parachuting
* Training Exercises
* Defective Equipment
* Mountaineering
* Post Traumatic Stress
* War Wounds
* Aviation
* Surface And Underwater
* Weapons
* Explosive Devices

You are entitled to make a claim for military injury compensation for an injury sustained as a result of service.

The normal rules relating to employers' liability also apply to the MOD, and members of HM Forces still have the option to sue the MOD for negligence if they believe the MOD, as their employer, has acted negligently - e.g in failing to supply adequate or proper equipment.

The amount of compensation received depends upon whether your claim is made under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, or whether you are pursuing a claim for negligence against the MOD.

ARMED FORCES COMPENSATION SCHEME

The level of awards under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme is based on a tariff which lists the injuries for which compensation may be paid.

CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE

The amount of compensation received if pursuing a claim of negligence depends upon how serious your injuries are and what other losses you have incurred, including

* Future financial losses including loss of earnings, loss of promotion etc.
* Travel to and from medical appointments
* Any medication
* Care given by members of your family or others
* Damage caused to any of your personal effects

There are many other items for which you are entitled to claim compensation, including damages to compensate for having to give up a job you enjoy because of your injuries.

As I have found out and stated above their is a lot to be done due to that solicitors have to argue for more compensation for people who have were giving their life for this country and when something goes wrong their not their to support them

The Theory of General Strike and We the People Power

This theory was developed by the nineteen century French philosopher George Sorel (1847-1922). As it has been historically demonstrated, anytime it has been employed it has reached its goal. It is a highly effective way to bring down any government or corporate elite regardless of its power and strength.

In the late 19th century, although the Marxist socialism was a dominant ideology among workers, syndicalism was still widely preferred in France, Spain, and Italy. It grew out of trade unions association that espoused the utopian vision of one day controlling their industries and, eventually, the government. The strike became the central weapon of syndicalism. However, it was the concept of general strike that made syndicalism revolutionary. Many hundreds of strikes in Europe, toward the end of 19th century, presented the potential of one mighty united strike, resulting to total work stoppage that would ruin capitalism and dismantle the government.

George Sorel wrote his treaties of syndicalism in 1908. He considered general strike as a mythic belief, a wide spread acceptance of which would prompt collective action by workers, at the same time softening employers resolve against concession. He believed that the movement of revolted masses must be represented in such a way that the soul of the revolutionaries may receive a deep and lasting impression capable of evoking as an undivided whole the mass of sentiments which corresponds to the different manifestations of the struggle undertaken by the people against the controlling system.

The movement concentrates in dream of general strike; there is no longer any place for reconciliation of the issues at stake. Everything is clearly mapped out, so that only one interpretation of the new order, namely a democratic and just society, is possible. This idea has all the advantages which integral knowledge has over analysisim, a way that it will be nearly impossible to cite another example which would so perfectly demonstrate the value of the goal subject for this action.

The possibility of the actual realization of the general strike has been much discussed. To the people who think of themselves as cautious, practical, and scientific, the difficulty of setting general masses of the workers in motion at the same time, seems prodigious. Its realization is considered a popular dream and an illusion of youth, soon to be discarded. But the experience shows otherwise, that the framing of a future, in some indeterminate time, when it is done in a certain way, may be very effective, with very few inconveniences. It happens when the anticipation of the future take the form of those myths, which embodies all the strongest inclinations of the people; inclinations that recur to the mind with the insistence of instincts in all circumstances of life; and which gives an aspect of complete reality to the hopes of immediate action by which, more easily than by any other method, people can reform their desires, passions, and mental activity.

The thought of general strike by itself in the course of a movement, preparation for a revolution, or a general uprising, creates a great element of strength, if it embraces all the aspirations of a democratic and just society and if it has given to the whole body of this concept a precision and rigidity which no other method of thought could have given. All that is necessary to know is, whether the planned general strike contains everything that this concept of a new society expects of the working class. At this point, the idea of general strike is so admirably adapted to the workers mind that there is a possibility of its dominating them in the most absolute manner, thus leaving no place for the desires which the legislative and executive branches are able to satisfy. The general strike is so effective as a motive force that once it has entered the mind of the workers, they can no longer be controlled by the system.

The truth about this approach and its definite successful results are found in numerous past occasions with no space here to refer to them. To demonstrate the actual operation of a general strike, the reference is made here to one very recent and totally successful action by the Iranian people in 1979 which resulted in bringing down their government which was considered the most militarized and powerful in the region. The course of events started in 1953 but took over twenty five years of bloody struggle by the Iranians to unite in general strike.

Operation Ajax was set up by the CIA, in 1953, to overthrow the Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeg's democratically elected government and reinstall the Shah to the throne of Iran. [1] Under Dr. Mossadeg's leadership, the Iranian oil industry was nationalized in 1951 ousting the British Petrol (BP) which had claimed and appropriated around 85 percent of the profits accrued from it since its creation in 1908. The British Petrol (BP) allied with the American oil companies by the assistance of both governments decided to oust the Prime Minister in order to repossess the Iranian oil industries. The CIA led by Kermit Roosevelt, a grandson of Theodor Roosevelt, initiated a coup in Iran to remove the democratically elected and extremely popular Prime Minister from the office. The US led coup was successful.

The royal monarch Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi was brought back to the throne who became a virtual dictator. American advisers were brought into the government.apparently to modernize it. Fearing popular uprising, his government assisted by the CIA, created the Iranian SAVAK, a vicious secret police to suppress any dissent. Reprisals took strength in early 1960s but were brutally put down. Many gave their lives and scores injured and tortured. But the movement did not die; the struggle continued and reached its summit in 1979, when all dissenting groups united behind one purpose, the overthrow of the regime. The concept of general strike had taken over. It had the difficult task of confronting the most powerful government in the Middle East, strongly supported by the United States.

First students poured on the streets nationwide, then oil industry workers stop working. Revenues from the oil industries comprised some 80 percent of the government revenues. Soon work stoppage spread to other sectors of the economy, then civil servants and finally the lower ranks of the military and solders. The economy broke down in weeks, forcing the Shah to flee this time with no place to seek refuge including the United States. A new democratic system of government was established with a total exclusion of Americans from the country.

Unfortunately, a year later the government was taken over by Ayatollah Khomeini. The secular oriented democratically elected president had to flee the country. Under the direction of Ayatollah Khomeini a new constitution was written and ratified under a controlled voting process. The new constitution established a theocratic and absolute dictatorship by one man, who had to be an attested Muslim scholar, and rule as the Supreme Leader, having veto power over any policy made by the government. He has also power over a dual military forces: the regular armed forces, and the Revolutionary Guard created to counterbalance the former. However, the constitution also created a popularly elected President as the chief administrator, and a welfare state with free education, free health care, anti-poverty provisions, subsidies to rural farmers and old-age benefits.

It is interesting to note that during the Shah's reign, the US government cooperated with his government in developing nuclear energy known as the "Atom for Peace" program and extended a full cooperative hand to Iran in developing of two dozens nuclear energy plants. All were stopped after the 1979 revolution. The United States turned against Iran and backed and assisted Saddam Hussein after his invasion of Iran for eight years causing hundreds of thousands of Iranians to be killed. It even supplied him with chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction which he effectively used even against his own people..

At the same time, Iranians never have been happy with kind of theocratic dictatorship they have become subjected. Despite all governmental efforts to suppress dissension, opposition groups are active, though mostly underground. The likelihood is that based on their successful overthrow of the monarch in 1953, they may get united for another general strike to bring down the present dictatorial regime and establish a democratic one. In fact, recently, President Ahmadinejad, for the purpose of reducing the deficit, imposed 70 percent tax increase on the merchants and shopkeepers in bazaars. This comprises a major part of small business in the country but extremely important since religious leaders rely for their livelihood on these devout Sheet bazaaris who give one fifth of their disposable income to the clergy. Despite this fact the bazaaris have threaten to declare a general strike similar to one which helped to bring down the Shah's government in 1979.[2] Historically speaking, no country in the Middle East is more prepared culturally and socially to accept a democratic way of life than Iran. As observed by the late Justice William O. Douglas the Iranian local life has been traditionally highly democratic. However, no new regime in Iran would be friendly with the American government, justifiably so, for what this government has done to the Iranian people since 1953.

Today, the economic, political and social life is so dire in advanced societies operating under the control and influence of the corporate elite that there seems neither hope nor chance for substantial reforms. Actually, under capitalism, particularly in the United States, the economic, political and social systems have become so corrupt and remote from the public interests that they cannot be reformed and need a total transformation to a new system of a fair and just society. With tremendous power of control that the elite enjoys in having the government, military, police and intelligence agencies on its side, any violent uprising can be easily put down. The overwhelming majority of Americans believe that something drastic need to be done to return the government back to the people. To succeed they must know what kind of a system should replace the present one. One known choice is socialism. But this regime, as shown in several countries which have tried to establish it, has transformed itself to dictatorship to be ruled by a political elite. Fortunately, there are new theories of a futuristic technological democracy developed which can replace the present system returning the government, and socio-economic systems to the people. [3] While the corporate elite and the government are equipped and ready to crash any violent anti-capitalist uprising, the general strike, through a peaceful and non-violent movement, is the only way to succeed.

Holidays in Gibraltar - Tourist Attractions and Activities

Known to many as simply 'The Rock', Gibraltar is a British territory which used to be one of the most important bases of the British Armed Forces. It is also a great destination for an exciting vacation. Indeed, though small in area, there are several things you can do during your holidays in Gibraltar.

One of the first things you should do during your holidays in Gibraltar is to ride a cable car to the Upper Rock. This ride provides spectacular views all around and is also easier than climbing the steep Mediterranean Steps, which you can take on your way back down.

Once at the Upper Rock, you can stop by the Apes' Den where you can watch over two hundred Barbary Macaques - the only species of wild monkeys in Europe - play and interact with each other. These monkeys are well cared for by the local regiment, particularly since there is a superstition that the British will leave Gibraltar once the monkeys are gone, similar to the belief that Britain will fall when the ravens leave the Tower of London.

You should also take some time to explore St. Michael's Cave, one of the most popular attractions in Gibraltar. Even if you're not a spelunker, you're sure to be fascinated by the limestone and stalagmite formations in the cave. During your holidays in Gibraltar, you can catch a stage play or a concert at the lower grotto, too, which is used as an auditorium.

The Great Siege Tunnels, also located on the Upper Rock are equally fascinating. Formerly known as the Upper Galleries, this maze of tunnels comprise one of the world's best defense systems. You're sure to learn a lot from the historical exhibits here, as well.

The Upper Rock, though, is not the only place to go to during your holidays in Gibraltar. You should also head out to Europa Point. From here, you can catch a glimpse of Tarifa, the southernmost point of Spain and Europe. You might even get to see the coast of North Africa from the lighthouse.

You can also head out to bay where you can watch groups of playful dolphins. If you're lucky, you might even be able to see some whales. If you're more of a bird-watcher, though, you can stay at the Jew's Gate, where you can observe dozens of migrating birds.

In town, you can view the historical artifacts at the Gibraltar Museum, too, which is housed in a 14th century bathhouse. The museum at the Chapel of our Lady of Europa offers interesting displays of religious sculptures and relics, as well. Indeed, no matter where you go during your holidays in Gibraltar, you're sure to find something to see and do that will make your holidays truly unforgettable.

"Armed Serenity 2008" by Nutnfancy, Part 2

PART 2 of 2: A tactical shoot with Nutnfancy and friends out in 15º to 20ºF snowy conditions at a Law Enforcement range, western US. This shows the nuts and bolts behind my synopsis video Armed Serenity. Putting a shoot like this together is a lot of work requiring much attention to detail (especially in these conditions), safety, logistics, clothing, tactical gear, and consideration for various experience levels. Primary purpose was to have fun with friends and to make a good memory with them. The secondary purpose give exposure to combat-oriented shooting to reveal weaknesses in technique and systems so they can be improved. The course of fire is representative of many other goods ones that are run at this excellent range. As shown, the course consists of 3 rds shot at each of two bad guys targets in the kneeling and standing positions. These shots are taken after a run at 50, 25, 15, and then walking 7 to 3 yards. Video covers more specifics. The cold conditions and bad ammo choked some 10/22s but time was short so we had no time to troubleshoot; we just transitioned to our tactical carbines. Scoring system was simplified later (see Part 2) and is a necessary part of the course: competition, running, and timing all help build some beneficial stress levels for practice (and it makes it funner!). The result was excellent carbine training that rewarded speed and accuracy. Goal was to achieve the lowest time for the shoot. Any shots outside of the humanoid bowling pin kill ...

US Army - 232 Years of Tradition

The US Army traces its history back to the formation of the Continental Army on 14 June, 1775.

There are Army wide traditions, and unit level traditions. Some of these are very serious. We trace the civilian control of the US Armed Forces to George Washington's voluntary release of power after the American Revolution. The strong tradition of following the orders of our civilian leadership is also an important part of the culture of the whole nation. Other traditions are very local, such as the rights of the Third Infantry to march with fixed bayonets.

Many units in the US Army have strong traditions such as unit mottoes. When an enlisted man salutes an officer in many of these units, he will call out the unit motto, such as "Can Do!" or "Twenty Rounds Full."

There are traditions that have been allowed to die. These include a deliberate separation of the soldier from society. Some have mutated. The old cavalry tradition of "Horse, Saddle and Rider" was about the order in which a trooper was to take care of matters. While we don't have many horses left in the service, we still expect to take care of our vehicles, then our personally assigned gear and then ourselves, in that order.

Then there are traditions that still exist, and are scarcely noticed. Golf is one of those. Prior to WWII, the officer corps had more than its fair share of wealthy members. They liked golf, but in order to justify golf courses on Army land, more had to play golf than just the wealthy. Golf was encouraged as a healthy pastime for the whole Army, and as this gradually seeped into the civilian world, it ceased to be a mark of how unusual the army was in fondness for golf.

There are traditions which have become famous from the movies, such as the Rangers with "Leave no man behind" in the Ranger Creed. Exposure to this has led to many soldiers thinking this is just the normal way of doing business.

However, what is certainly the most famous tradition of the Army is calling cadence. This spread to other services and nation and even outside of the armed forces. A cadence is a beat that helps soldiers perform a task in unison. Originally this might mean marching or loading a musket. The modern use of the term refers to a chant credited to a private Ducksworth in 1944, in which each time the soldier's left foot hit the ground, he would repeat words called out by the soldier who was leading the cadence. In the original case, it was a chant that started with "Sound off! One, two, Sound off, Three four" with variations in timing and content to keep interest up. It was a means of inspiring tired troops into a bit more enthusiasm. Now there are hundreds of elaborate cadences, some of which are tied to Army or unit traditions, others of which are common throughout the Armed Forces. Seldom will anyone watch a military movie without some sign of cadence being called.

The Importance of Form Fitting Tactical Gloves

There are several forms of tactical gloves that are currently being used as protection for armed forces operations of military power all over the world. The glove serves many different purposes of protection, such as fire resistance and resistance to sharp objects.

It is important that they be form fitting so the users can operate as if they were not wearing any at all. The glove offers protection to service members in many different facets of military, such as law enforcement agents, SWAT teams and SEAL members. Other military officers all around the world use them as well as they continue to perform honorable yet life endangering tasks.

Many kinds of form fitting hand protection are created to be fire resistant, weather resistant and protect wearers from assault and injury. The glove is custom made to serve specific military supply and demand. It is a must-have for those placed in an active line of duty or in special ops.

Individuals use form fitting fire resistant gloves to protect their hands and arms from the heat of flames and fire-related dangers. SWAT team service members often use tactical gloves for protection when disarming a bomb or operating heavy machinery. Loose hand protection will get in the way of sensitive tasks and may make movements clumsy.

Weather is also a factor in hand protection. Form fitting styles keep hands warm and dry, preventing blisters and frost-bite. The have minimal interference with finger dexterity while shooting weapons or manipulating tactical gear. A tight fitting glove will not snag or catch. It should have thin seams or none at all to prevent bulkiness.

In special situations, individuals may opt for half-finger styles. These protect the majority of the hand while leaving the top two joints of the fingers and upper part of the thumb exposed for use of bare fingers when sensitive touch is crucial. They can be found in full arm length or up to the wrist with lightweight nylon loop straps for a more reliable seal against outside elements. The most common color is black, but they also come in gold, gray, cammo, brown and tan, depending on the type and manufacturer.

Specially designed cut resistant gloves assist in keeping the wearer safe while providing grip. Well-fitting gloves protect the hand and body with sturdy, reliable and lightweight materials so the service member is fully covered but also able to move easily and nimbly handle machinery and equipment. The durable products that are used to make the glove do not interfere with the necessity to complete a task.

The purpose of the form fitting gloves usually dictates what material works best. Most gloves are made of synthetic material that is water resistant and dries quickly. Leather gloves can come with a variety of interior reinforcements. Hand covering can be made from buckskin, goatskin, lambskin or pigskin as well. Extra protection is created by Kevlar and Nomex. Some styles have a protective chemical coating, such as Nitrile.

They make the important job of military or uniformed personnel safer and easier to perform their necessary duties. When wearing form fitting tactical gloves it's easy to bend, stretch, reach and touch during each mission. They are also suitable for everyday use and during outdoor training activities.

The Border of a President's Authority

Here we are going to study briefly the approaches of imperial presidents against congress.

The most controversial case came in 1970s. Lyndon Johnson before 1964 regularly tried to achieve congressional approve in his term. Therefore, congress passed 1964 Tonkin Gulf Resolution, which authorized the president to take necessary measurements in Vietnam. Using this authority, Johnson took the state into the war in 1965 without obtaining a declaration of war from the congress.

Not satisfied with the affairs in Vietnam, congress changed its strategy and passed The War Powers Resolution (WPR) in 1973. It was the reaction of congress against Johnson's successor, Richard Nixon whom many politicians regard as the most monarchic president of the United States. While war in Vietnam had become a fiasco, congress concluded that president had misused its power, and as a response, passed WPR. According to this act "The President was required 'in every possible instance' to consult with Congress before introducing U.S. armed forces into hostilities. After every such introduction he was to 'consult regularly with the Congress' until the forces had been removed. He was required to report to Congress within 48 hours after the introduction of forces into combat or situations in which hostilities were imminent and to report every six months thereafter. The President was given a maximum of 60 days to use the armed forces without congressional permission; after that time, he would have to obtain a declaration of war, other congressional approval, or an extension of the time limit. If he did not gain congressional approval, he had 30 days to withdraw the forces from hostilities"

Practically nearly, no presidents regarded this resolution with the justification that it confined the presidential power. Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George Bush routinely evaded or ignored provisions of the WPR, arguing that it was an unconstitutional infringement on their powers as commander in chief. President Gerald Ford evacuated Americans and Europeans from South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia in 1975, when communist forces seized power in those nations, without invoking the consultation clause of the WPR. He also attempted a rescue of the crew of the merchant ship Mayaguez after it was seized by Cambodian communists in 1975, without invoking the resolution. In 1980, President Carter ignored the consultation clauses of the WPR when he ordered military forces to try to rescue diplomatic hostages held by Iran for more than a year.

In 1982, President Ronald Reagan sent marines into Lebanon, where they remained for months exposed to hostile fire, without invoking the 60-day "clock." When he bombed Libya in 1986, he offered members of Congress a briefing while the planes were in midair, rather than consulting with them about whether the bombing should occur.

The other example of Reagan's resisting against congress happened in early 1980s. According to David McKay While he was in oval office, he tried to get American hostage in Lebanon back. What he did was a secret arm deal with Iran that was in war with Iraq and using Iran's mediatory to free the hostages. Then he used the money in aiding the opposite groups (Contras) of ruling communist Sandinistas in Nicaragua. Indeed, he had trapped in two scandals within Iran and Nicaragua at the same time. He had violated the previous acts of congress that emphasized not to go to any deal with terrorists and at the same time, he had violated respecting a democratic government by aiding its opposites. When these affairs came to public, it was revealed that he had done all these jobs without informing congress. Then congress decided to restrain the power of president and passed a series of amendments known as Boland amendments. These amendments were written into text of budget, which said, "None of the funds appropriated herein shall be used for the purpose of funding the Nicaraguan Contras." The third Boland amendment asserted on cut off all funds for military and paramilitary purposes.

In 1989, without consulting Congress, President Bush sent forces into Panama to capture General Manuel Noriega and bring him back to the United States to face drug trafficking charges. (Bush did, however, comply with other provisions of the law.) Bush was authorized by Congress to use military force against Saddam Hussein of Iraq, but Congress did not use the provisions of the WPR.

Presidents do not use the WPR if their use of the armed forces involves peacekeeping or anti-terrorist actions or for humanitarian assistance, such as the 1992-93 operation in Somalia and the 1993 airdrops of food in Bosnia and Herzegovina, or if covert operations are involved. Presidents never trigger the 60-day clock that starts when they use the armed forces. If Congress wishes to set a time limit, it must do so itself by passing a joint resolution. But that resolution itself is subject to a Presidential veto, which then must be overridden by a two-thirds vote of each house to go into effect. In practice, a President who fails to obey the terms of the WPR can continue using the armed forces until two-thirds of each chamber of Congress decides to force him to withdraw, a most unlikely situation.

On the other hand, in view of some writers like Gene Healy, Clinton is also one of the imperial presidents. He has written an article, "Clinton's Legacy: Another Imperial Presidency" which is published in cato.org on January 20, 2001. He believes that:

"Despite his antiwar background, Clinton adopted a Nixonian view of presidential power. From the threatened invasion of Haiti in 1994 to the cluster-bomb humanitarianism of the war on Serbia in 1999, Clinton treated the constitutional command that Congress alone can declare war with less respect than the Imperial Presidents that preceded him. President Reagan's attack on Grenada and President Bush's invasion of Panama were undeclared wars, but they had the constitutional fig leaf of the need for surprise. Clinton's conduct has been more brazen.

With 1994's Haiti intervention, Clinton stood ready to launch a 20,000-troop invasion, while asserting that he did not need congressional authorization to do so. In Serbia, the air war from March to June 1999 represented the largest commitment of American military personnel and materiel since the Persian Gulf War. Nonetheless, Clinton refused to go to Congress for a declaration of war. Indeed, administration officials would not admit that the bombing campaign over Serbia was a war."

As history of the United States shows, in the time of war and crisis, presidents maintain especial right for them. They are commander in chief, according to constitution, and take it for granted to exercise more power.

Russian VDV Airborne Forces

Vozdushno-Desantnye Voyska! The VDV is a branch of the Russian military. They are a rapid reaction and infiltration force, comprised of 5 divisions and 1 brigade. Only a few small airborne drops were carried out in the first desperate days of Operation Barbarossa, in the vicinity of Kiev, Odessa, and the Kerch peninsula during World War Two. Those small drop units have now grown into a modern, fierce, fighting force. The VDV took place in some of the most pivotal battles of World War Two and had a very direct connection with the demise of the German occupation over Prague, Chernigov, Odessa, Brest, and Danzig, and was largely resposible for the liberation of the Belorussian front. When the motherland calls, the VDV answers! VDV units were some of the first elements of the Russian retaliation in South Ossetia against Georgia in 2008. 76th "Chernigov" Airborne, and 98th "Ivanovo" Airborne division's took place in the liberation of Tskhinvalli and eventually pushed into Georgia itself, defeating every line of opposition until Georgia finally surrendered days later. The VDV participated in the rapid deployment of Russian forces stationed in Bosnian city Ugljevik, in and around Pristina airport during the Kosovo War. Streaming into Kosovo's capital, NATO found itself face-to-face with the Russian troops. American officials did, for their own reasons, publicly downplayed the significance of the confrontation, but it is impossible to deny that, this event points dramatically to ...

Pet Ferret History

Ferrets' history and beginning as a domesticated pet is a bit unclear, no one knows for sure when the domestication of ferrets began. Some people attribute the Egyptians some the Greeks, however, some evidence from archeology remains of ferrets have dated back to 1500BC. Other research on mitochondria DNA analysis has suggested that the ferret could have been domesticated around 2500 years ago. Another bit of uncertainty surrounding the history of ferrets has to do with its direct descendant. One view is that the pet ferret was most likely domesticated from the European Polecat (Mutela putorious) others believe that it's a direct descendant of the Steppe Polecat (Mustela eversmannii) or maybe a result of some hybridization of the two.

Ferrets usually established their feral colonies in areas where there are little or no competition from predators similar in size to it. In areas where they coexist with Polecats, hybridization is common.

As a pet ferrets are said to be ranked third behind the dog and cat in the United States.

Regardless of who first domesticated our favorite fuzzy friend, Europeans or Egyptians, what are the facts of ferret history?

1600 BC - Since the 1600 BC ferrets have been regarded as creatures of beauty, charm, and their skillfulness in hunting mice rats, rabbits as a form of pest control.

1500 BC - The ancient Egyptians have murals of hunting ferrets.

6BC - It is said that Augustus Caesar sent ferrets to the Balearic Island to control the rabbit population from getting too out of control. This leads to spreading of the news of ferret's usefulness in hunting throughout Europe. The European armed forces used to be fed from the hunts of their ferret partners.

1390 - English parliament passed the first law restricting the possession of ferrets.

1939 - The popularity of ferrets as pets grew in the United States.

2005 - The Delaware law was passed which stated that no person shall hunt, take kill or destroy any rabbit or hare with a ferret, or have a ferret in possession while hunting.
