Air Force Benefits

The Air Force offers great educational benefits. They offer job training in competitive career fields. Once a person enlists in the military they are given a specific job and the training that goes with it. The Air Force offers jobs in many fields. There are jobs in medical, engineering, logistics, mechanical and electronic fields. These are all challenging jobs that they train you to do. Through an airman's career they will be offered advanced training in their jobs as well. Not only do they get the training in a job, but they get the experience of doing that job on a daily basis.

The Air Force also offers the Community College of the Air Force. This is an educational benefit where an Airman on active duty can obtain a college degree. This benefit, along with the GI Bill, tuition and testing, can provide the military member with an education while still in uniform and funds to obtain that degree after they are done serving.

The Air Force does offer other benefits besides educational. The opportunity to travel is often associated with the Air Force. There are bases all over the United States and the world. When a person enlists in the military they are given the opportunity to see the world on someone else's expense. They can have the opportunity to live and work abroad.

Each service member personnel are given 30 days paid vacation a year. They can use this as they want. If they use their time to travel, there are discounted flights and hotels available. Those that are on active duty can take advantage of these deals. In Europe there are resorts, AFRC, Armed Forces Recreational Centers, which offer discounted travel accommodations. At Disney World in Orlando, FL there is also a resort that is available for military, retirees and qualified personal that work for the military.

The Air Force offers competitive pay. As a person works through the ranks they will be offered the opportunity for advancement and pay raises, along with yearly pay increases. There are also re-enlistment incentives and other incentives available. Also available are allowances for housing and food that Airman may qualify. The military takes care of its Airmen and provides them with what they need, or the means to attain them.

Retirement is another benefit. After 20 years of service on active duty, a military member can submit for retirement. They are then entitled to retirement pay and benefits. They can pursue another career or return to school, all while being retired. If a young person enlists when they are 18 they could retire from the Air Force at 38. This is a benefit that many Air Force personnel look forward to.

Insurance is available to all military members. This covers health and life insurance. The military offers some of the best medical care available. Airmen can be treated at any military base in the world. The Air Force offers medical coverage for the active duty member and their dependent family members. This covers vision as well. Dental is covered fully for active duty personal and for a small fee there is an available plan for dependents. Health insurance is also available for retirees. While this coverage is subject to change it is very competitive and most retirees opt to use it.

Life insurance is available to all members as well. Because of the job requirements, traditional life insurance does not always cover any member of the armed forces. The Air man has its own life insurance of up to $400,000 for a nominal fee.

These are only a few of the many Air Force benefits that are offered to those on active duty. The benefits for those who choice to serve are varied and wide spread. They are there to be taken advantage of. Many are continued to be available to veterans and retirees.

Extremism Vs Moderation: Voluntary Association or Force and The Popularity of Freedom

Claiming libertarian thought as extremist is common in today's political scene. Not only is it common, it is popular and no wonder. Our political landscape is filled with non-philosophies, none of the seemingly most popular political opinions expressed in the major media have any genuine guiding principles, they are orphans and half philosophies without anything guiding them besides visceral and gut reactions to situations, whatever feels good or right. Libertarian thought in times of confusion or dissension amongst proponents, it is not only possible but expected upon them to go back to the guiding principles of individualism and liberty.

Liberty and individualism are not simply coming back in terms of popularity, there is no reemergence, the truth is that the two major political parties have abandoned them wholesale to the highest bidders. What you are seeing is not a resurgence but a reaction, a pure reaction to the propaganda machine we call the "mainstream" having completely abandoned any concept of the importance of personal liberty. They have abandoned this concept because they are only capable of spewing forth that which is approved by their monopolist owners and sponsors. These monopolist owners and sponsors have only been allowed to become so through government, and only through large government that intervenes in the marketplace. The only enemies of large government lie in the principles of the ultimate importance of the individual, to a society addicted to large government and monopolist corporations, the importance of the individual is very much indeed extremist. They are the disease and Libertarian thought and philosophy is the cure.

They will call us "ultra-conservative" or "far right wing" but this is completely untrue. It is a common misconception, even amongst libertarians, that conservative politics or that GOP, the American Republican party have been recently subverted from within, that their goals, those of the right-wing have always been for small and limited government, this is untrue, certain elements of libertarianism since the 1950's have done their best to instill the philosophy of the importance of the individual into that particular party. It's obvious that it has not taken hold and has in fact failed. To quote T. Alexander Smith in his book, Cultures at War: Moral Conflicts in Western Democracies, from page 30, "right-wing movements" are "social movements whose stated goals are to maintain structures of order, status, honor, or traditional social differences or values" as compared to left-wing movements which seek "greater equality or political participation". Far right-wing philosophies include those of fascism and nationalism and they advocate, in simplest terms, societal stratification and protectionism of industry and trade. The neo-conservative movement is not a subversion of the conservative arm of politics, it is in fact a reassertion of the base tyrannical and extremist tenants of conservatism, the natural inheritor of all things conservative and right-wing.

That bastion of Libertarian and liberal thought, Thomas Jefferson put it most eloquently in a letter to John Adams when he said, "I agree with you that there is a natural aristocracy among men. The grounds of this are virtue and talents. There is also an artificial aristocracy founded on wealth and birth, without either virtue or talents; for with these it would belong to the first class. The natural aristocracy I consider as the most precious gift of nature for the instruction, the trusts, and government of society." Essentially, it is complete averse to the principles of the individual and liberty to allow the propagation and, furthermore, support "structures of order, status, honor, or traditional social differences or values." Indeed, it should be noted that, in every definition and foundation of these two philosophies of libertarianism and right-wing or conservative politics, that they are pure and natural enemies, truly incapable of resolving their differences and those who place any importance on the individual will do themselves and their allies the greatest favor by avoiding aligning or defining their politics as right-wing.

Right-wing politics advocates force and manipulation of society by government.

The Democrats and those in the "left-wing", particularly the "far left-wing" composed of communists are committed to the altar of egalitarian society, though, unlike Thomas Jefferson, they do not believe that it is possible for the rise of a natural generational aristocracy in a truly free market, they believe in the application of force through government as much if not more than those in the right-wing. Though they seem to forget their denial of this possibility of the rise of a natural aristocracy when they vote on bail outs on those corporations failing but "too big to fail". There is a complete disconnect between their philosophy and the application of it. The principle does not guide them in action, it only sets it forth, the "end justifies the means" as is often said. They are too reliant upon these huge corporations and the funding they get from them. They have a lot to lose in terms of elections if they do not appease the corporations. If they do not appease these corporations, there are thousands of others willing to take their place in the hopes that they might be able to make a difference here and there, they see it as a small price to pay instead of a complete reversal on their philosophy. In reality, though, why should they see it as a reversal on their philosophy? Their philosophy is completely reliant upon large government and five huge corporations are easier to maintain and control as opposed to several thousand medium sized companies or millions of small groups. Their philosophy needs control, it needs to be able to to "maintain structures of order, status, honor, or traditional social differences or values" in order to impose the force necessary to guarantee their dream of an egalitarian society. So, in their major motivators in and of actions those in the "left-wing" are in fact "right-wing".

Would you trust a complete stranger walking down your street to responsibly disperse and utilize a couple thousand dollars of your money? Obviously not, if you would, you are a fool, pure and simple. So why are you compelled to reason that this same person would be more trustworthy two thousand miles away with an official sounding title? This is why they must use force, in the form of threat of imprisonment in order to get most people to pay their taxes. Some people can be convinced with some allusion of patriotism toward government, but these same left-wing politicians will often perform a complete reversal in their condemnation of nationalism as a tool of right-wing fascism. A forced and direct income tax is not simply wrong, it is a crime. In fact, the only possible definition of a crime is in force, the same force advocated by both major American political parties. A tax based upon use, whereby that tax is appropriated purely for the maintenance of said service, is fine and not a crime, though questionable if said service would not be better left to the private sectors, anything worth paying for is better left to competitive private organizations. A tax that is direct and based upon a percentage of income of a person's labor is fine if it is voluntary. The only issue is in force.

The government threatening you with imprisonment if you do not hand over money is no different than an armed robbery. It is no different from a person putting a gun in your face and threatening taking your life or a portion of your life if you do not submit to their request, whether that be robbery, rape or otherwise. Government loves the idea of the dollar, of printed money, because it removes the true intimacy that exists between an individual and her property. Money is nothing but a representation of your labor, labor is nothing but an extension of your time, energy and efforts. Your time, energy and efforts are a portion of your life, which is a completely limited resource owned wholly by you and nobody else. When you submit to a coercive government that threatens the loss of a larger portion of your life (imprisonment) in return for a smaller portion of your life (a couple thousand dollars a year), you are a victim. Government force is a crime and you are a victim of that force. The only legitimate and civilized interaction between people is that which is voluntary and consensual. The only definition of crime is in the forced compunction or removal of a portion of an individual's life.

To espouse force in any form is to espouse crime. Both wings of our current political landscape espouse crime. The only extremists are those that would be involved with or espouse crime. The only moderates are those that do not advocate the use of force or government crime. The only true moderates in the American political landscape are those who are libertarian minded and respect the importance and ultimate sovereignty of the individual, her ownership of all portions of her life and her right to partake of any and all voluntary interaction in which she sees fit.

Who Are The Egyptian Special Forces?

The Egyptian Special Forces Unit is also known as Unit 777 or Task Force 777. It was created to counter terrorist activity as well as hijacking of Egyptian aircraft. The special forces unit was created in response to Anwar Sadat expelling Soviet military advisors from the country.

Their History

Unit 777 is also known as Task Force 777. They were created in 1977 in response to Sadat and an attempt to make peace with Israel. They have been dispatched several times and are considered to be a counter terrorism unit as well as a special operations unit.

How To Become A Member Of Unit 777

Little is known about this covert operation, although it can be assumed that they are military trained men who are members of the Egyptian Army. The Egyptian armed forces consist of a Navy as well as an Army. Unit 777 is an offshoot of the Egyptian Army. Details on how a person becomes member of this special task force are not known.

Unit 777 Training

Although the original Unit 777 was disbanded after the failed Malta rescue operation (see details below, the special forces operation now trains with several special operations units across the world, including the United States Delta Force, Navy Seals and the French GIGN.

What Are They Best At?

Their primary missions are to protect Egypt from terrorist activities perpetrated against them, both in the country as well as abroad. Disarming hijackings of Egyptian ships as well as airplanes are part of their duties. They are best at covert operations and sniper activities in an effort to rescue hostages and eliminate terrorists. Currently, they are involved in fending off terrorist threats in their own country perpetrated by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Weapons Of The Unit 777

Weapons used by Unit 777 are classified, although it is assumed that sniper rifles are a primary weapon used by this special forces unit. They use explosives as well as part of their efforts to gain access to hijacking situations.

Known Missions

They were deployed to Cyprus in 1978 to respond to a hijacking of an airplane by the Popular Front For The Liberation Of Palestine. Unfortunately, the Egyptian authorities did not inform the country of the arrival of their special force unit, costing the lives of 15 members of those who were sent in for the rescue mission. However, there were no casualties among the hostages of the hijacked aircraft.

They were also deployed in Malta with regard to the hijacking of an Egyptian aircraft. This mission was not considered to be successful as 57 of the 88 passengers who were hostages were killed by explosives set off by the task force and sniper shooting in the chaos that erupted after the task force gained entrance to the plane. The hostages were reportedly mistaken for the terrorists.

Units

Details of special units of Task Force 777 are unknown. At its onset, there were less than 80 members of this special task force. There are no known numbers as to how many members the task force has today.

Are They Professional Soldiers?

Details of the status of the soldiers are unknown, although as they are training with special operations units across the world and recruited from the Egyptian Army, it is assumed that they are professional soldiers who are equipped to handle life threatening situations, terrorist activity and hostage situations.

Who Are The Swedish Special Forces?

Sweden has two special forces teams- the Special Protection Group, Särskilda Skyddsgruppen or SSG and the Special Reconnaissance Group, Särskilda Inhämtningsgruppen or SIG. Both units report to the ministry of defense and are under the direct command of the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces. There are plans underway to merge the SSG and the SIG into a single unit by 2011.

Their History

The SPG became active in 1994 whereas the SIG was established much later in 2006. The Swedish Army became more active during the years of the Cold War, at which time service in the military became mandatory. The Swedish Army serves the people of Sweden and has also been deployed globally. Recently, the SPG was deployed to Afghanistan to support the ISAF, a NATO group. The SSG and the SIG were both deployed to Chad, as part of Sweden's contribution of marines to EUFOR.

How To Become A Member Of The SSG & SIG

While the SSG is comprised of officers from all 3 military branches- the army, the navy and the air force, they are primarily from the Coastal Rangers, Airborne Rangers and Parachute Rangers. The selection process is extremely arduous and challenging.

Men are mostly drafted into the Swedish army, although there have been a considerable number of female volunteers over the past several years. The standards and challenges for female applicants is the same as it is for male applicants. The average age of the operatives is 30 years.

Swedish Special Forces Training

Basic recruit training takes more than 12 months and includes VIP protection, parachuting and scuba diving. SSG officers also get receive special weapons training, sniping training, and training in first aid. Training is generally conducted in foreign countries with many joint exercises with the special forces of those countries.

What Are They Best At?

Their goal is to be neutral in times of war. They are trained to protect the territory, defend their country and assist civilians. They also deploy troops for international peace missions. The SIG are especially trained for reconnaissance and clandestine surveillance with the aim of gathering intelligence on any individuals or activities of strategic significance. The SIG undertakes delicate, dangerous missions that require them to move undetected inside hostile areas.

Weapons Of The Sweden

Weapons are unknown.

Known Missions

The SSG has been active in Afghanistan and Kosovo. They have also been active in anti piracy in Operation Atlanta and have been deployed for peacekeeping in Sudan and Chad.

Units

There are many units established in the Swedish Army, but only 2 that are ready for instant deployment. The Home Guard and the First Regiment are ready for instant deployment.

Are They Professional Soldiers?

Most of the members of the Swedish army are conscripts who have to serve because of the mandatory service law. They are paid for their service, but the plan is to end mandatory service in the summer of 2010.

In God's Image - Developing Self-Esteem

Powerful forces at work

The concept of building a powerful self-image is a dynamic force and is vital in your quest for personal development and releasing for complete freedom. You must first gain an insight into who you are before you can identify what you are. Then you can take the next step into developing the person you aspire to be. Remember always, even though people are not capable of total self-evaluation, you must be honest and embrace the real you, don't try to be someone else. As you delve deeper into your soul (inner person) you will evolve into your true self. Your whole outlook will become more positive and central. You will come to a realization that you are indeed created in God's own image and as such have the potential for greatness. Greatness is begotten from the father and born of the child. If this were not so He would have told us differently. Soon you, in God's image as a regenerated person, will come forward and the old suppressed person will simply melt away into a harmless memory of the past. In humans, transformation of mind comes with a deeper understanding of self and a closer relationship with God. .

Can create sickness

Many people, as perhaps you are, inflicted with a degenerative disease that permeates your total being. Since birth countless influences and pressures of your environment have controlled your true self. Your have become a product of your upbringing. In order to escape, you must gain the cooperation of those around you for support. Let them know you how important it is for you to change and you will no longer be the person you once were.

Stand on your own two feet

Your sincerity and determination will see you through. God wants you to stand on your own two feet and be an example of certainty on His behalf. You have to "kick the habit" so to speak. Life is indeed an implementation of habits. It's easy to fall into the jaws of compliancy and spiral into mediocrity. You find yourself fighting for life as you drown in a pool of hopelessness. Life as it was meant to be, will escape you because you never heard her call for transformation. You must be reborn, with a new set of values and new outlook on life.

Do not compromise

Most people fail because this is a developmental process that takes a lot of effort. As you begin to experience success; the more successes you have the higher the perception of yourself will become and the more you will crave the enriching feeling of self-completion. In time your horizons will expand like never before. You will see things in a new and exciting light. Obstructions that have hampered your life will melt and disappear in time. Soon your success drive will be a natural function that will operate at optimum efficiency. Failure is not part of the human spirit; it is a false concept that keeps people in bondage to the captivating merchants of the material world. If a person believes he/she can't be successful, then he/she will rely on worldly things to comfort or suppress the success drive.

"Advance, and never halt, for advancing is experiencing success. Advance I say, do not fear resistance for it is only thorns in the path and the blood they draw is minuscule and corrupt."

Stay focused on God

Stay focused on God and build your self-image around that viewpoint. You're your new self-image illuminate God? What is self-image? It is simply the capacity to merge into Jesus' mannerisms and convert them to yourself, with the realization of knowing you are in control of your destiny. While God gives you destiny, He allows you control over it. Your ability to achieve and develop is a control process that you must master. The gift may come from God, but the implementation is ultimately up to you. God supplies the tools and knowledge but He won't do it for you. In fact, no one will do it for you, nor will they care if you fail.

The fact is, it's not who you are that holds you back it's who you think you're not.

And Success will be yours

You are not only created in God's own image, you are created in his likeness; this is an extremely powerful physical force that has the ability to overcome all obstacles in conceiving plans that become realities of expression. Every possible element within God's creation is available for your use in your quest for success. Success is God directed and expected of His Children. All the ingredients, physical and mental are supplied for your use. It's up to you to sort out what to use and what not to use. Neither God nor any one else will do it for you. When you go to a library or log onto the Internet, all the information is there but you must sort through it and put it into use. It's like baking a cake. First, you must have the desire to bake a cake. Second, you must have a game plan, or recipe. Third, you must follow directions, and fourth, complete the process. The best-laid plans are of no account without these ingredients for action.

As a child of God, you are constantly setting an example for others, in one form or another. You are continually moving going toward something, either success or failure. In everyday life all people experience successions of failure and successes. They are called, ups and downs, or valleys and plateaus. In one thing you may excel while in another you may struggle. This is because in the material world, external forces are exerted on you from all directions. In the spirit realm, everything leans toward success, while the material world leans toward failure. Overcoming the resistance of the material world is a matter of realizing where the resistance is coming from and neutralizing it.

Welcome to a sensational world

Everything on earth, action or visualization, influences or exerts force on something else. You must find out what is influencing you in making clear choices. Is it a person, old failures, or skepticism? Never forget who you are; a creation of God made in His image and His likeness. Armed with this knowledge, nothing can stand in your way. You have the power to overcome, achieve, if you can conceive it, and believe it, then you can achieve it. Do not allow someone or something hold you back from your aspirations. Old failures are dead; don't carry around that which is dead. They are rotting, smelling, revolting, in your mind's eye. You must awaken to follow your dreams, it's what God wants and expects of you. Use God's abundance, tools and knowledge, it's unlimited and free for His Children. If you're a person of God, you will understand if you are not it doesn't matter, the same rules apply.

Happy Trails

Malta Air Show Boosts Hotel Bookings

Malta's annual international air show is set to be the best ever this year, with tens of thousands of islanders and tourists attending the event over the weekend of September 23 and 24.

Making the event a truly international one, as well as the Armed Forces of Malta participating, the French, Italian, Dutch Swiss and Spanish will all have planes and crew in attendance, plus the British Royal Air Force and US Air Force.

Among the planes taking part are two Alpha jets from France, one of which will be doing an aerial display, six F-16's with two Dutch F-16's flying, and from the RAF two Harriers and two Tornados, with one of the Harriers expected to do an aerial demonstration.

Ticket prices for the Saturday or Sunday are low compared to many international air shows, ensuring access is available to many of the Maltese population as well as enthusiasts and veterans who travel from around Europe for the weekend. Prices this year are 4.5 Maltese (around US $12) for either day, with public transport to the show available throughout the island.

With the tourist season beginning to slow down, many of the Malta hotels see the air show as a tourist attraction and organise transport to and from the event.

An advantage of holding the show in the second half of September is that the Malta weather can almost be assured to be good, with the all important clear skies allowing viewing of the participating planes.

Cheap Malta Flight

The air show is seen by many in the Malta holidays industry as evidence that Malta can produce events which will not only prove an attraction to those tourists already on the island, but also as part of a package of other attractions to draw new tourists to the island.

The first half of the year has been a disappointing one for the holiday in Malta industry, with a drop in tourists for the first six months of the year compared to the same period last year.

Commenting on the recently released figures showing a drop in visitors, one independent travel guide for Malta http://www.yourmalta.com believes that events like the air show should be promoted more.

'Malta needs good news', they say, 'and if potential tourists could see on a Malta map of events quality displays such as the air show it would be a good reason to visit the island.

The island needs to compete against other destinations in the Mediterranean, but while most of them are seeing an increase in visitor numbers, Malta is showing a drop'.

Many hoteliers and others in the holiday industry are hoping that cheap Malta flights might become a reality in the near future. There has been talk of low cost carriers from the UK and Ireland providing services to the island for some time now, but no deals have been struck yet.

Unemployment on the island is high at over 8 per cent, and tourism is a major employer, but many feel that the government is reluctant to see the national carrier Air Malta face potentially subsidised competiton. But by doing nothing the island faces the danger of the whole tourist industry suffering.

'Malta can be a high quality destination with low cost fares', comment the travel guide. 'We already have good accommodation like the Hilton Malta, so potentially we can do it'.

Hire an Aggressive Military Lawyer to Defend Yourself in a Military Court

Unlike a civilian case where you could escape a serious sentence or fines especially if you had committed a violation for the first time, military courts have a very high level of strictness that throw the book of military justice at you with your very first offense. If you are in the army, navy or air-force and have fallen foul of military laws then you should hire an aggressive Military Lawyer to defend yourself in a military court.

Armed forces in countries like the United States of America have separate laws and also have an extensive legal team in the form of JAG or Judge Advocate General Division. If you end up breaking any law during your stint in the armed forces then you could find yourself facing a court martial that could end with disastrous results. Depending on the nature of your crime, you could simply face a pay cut or end up with a dishonorable discharge. You could also face a stiff prison sentence unlike a civilian case where you just might end up with a slap on your wrists.

The armed forces have huge resources in terms of finance and manpower that is sure to be used against you in case you end up making a legal mistake. You will thus require an equally aggressive Military Lawyer that has enough experience in handling different types of military cases including the one that you find yourself in. Your lawyer should be well-conversant with all military laws along with the latest amendments. Since the military usually awards severe sentences even to minor infractions, an experienced lawyer can help you to win your case or at least try to get a reduced sentence in case of a loss.

If you do not have a pro-active and aggressive lawyer to represent your case then you could be pressurized into signing a guilty plea or enter into a plea deal that could anyway harm your interests. An expert lawyer with in-depth military law knowledge could study the proposals offered by the prosecution and help you make an informed decision that could save you from a long prison sentence or a discharge. Since the military has a very high conviction rate, you would most certainly be doomed if you do not have an experienced and fearless Military Lawyer on your side.

Your lawyer will anyway be outnumbered by lawyers and experts from the armed forces once he or she takes up your case. In case you are in the midst of getting a divorce when serving in the military then again such a lawyer that is an expert in divorce cases could help you to successfully get a divorce and get on with your life again. You could also hire a lawyer in case your military pension is stuck due to any reason. In any case, your lawyer will surely have a tough fight on his or her hands since the military will surely put its might behind each case so as to secure a conviction or victory.

If you are a member of the armed forces then you would be governed under military law and any infringement on your part could be met with harsh legal action. You should certainly hire an aggressive Military Lawyer to protect yourself, your reputation and your finances in case you end up on the other side of the military fence.

(6/12)Battlefield I The Battle of North Africa Episode 5 (GDH)

SUBSCRIBE TO EXCELLENT WORLD WAR II VIDEOS UPDATED WEEKLY When Italian dictator Benito Mussolini declared war on the Allies on June 10, 1940, he already had more than a million men in the Italian army based in Libya. In neighboring Egypt, the British Army had only 36000 men guarding the Suez Canal and the Arabian oil fields. Italian forces became a potential threat to Allied supply routes in the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. The early part of the North African Campaign was plagued by a lack of supplies on both sides. Sweeping battles took place that culminated with one side or the other's supply lines growing too long while the other's grew shorter. Major engagements of the campaign include the Battle of Gazala, First Battle of El Alamein, and the Second Battle of El Alamein. Most of the battles took place far to the east of the Italian bases and supply depots in Libya. By 1942, the Royal Navy had beaten the Italian fleet out of the Mediterranean, and allowed their own transports free movement. American forces landed in western North Africa in 1942. The Siege of Tobruk took place from April to August 1941. The Allied garrison, largely Australian, backed by British artillery and tanks, captured the fortress in the first Allied drive through Libya, and held it against great odds. The Western Desert Campaign, or Libya-Egypt Campaign, began on September 13, 1940, when Italian forces stationed in Libya launched a small invasion into British-held Egypt and set up defensive forts ...

The Military Life: Then And Now

For many Americans, being a part of the military is the only way of life they've ever known. Generations of male family members, and now female as well, have been a member of the armed forces, living and moving around the globe from base to base. Others have joined for shorter terms; they've proudly enlisted to protect our country during a time of unrest, enrolled to obtain funding for education or simply wanted to gain experience to utilize in their futures. And although there was recent talk of reinstating the draft, we've avoided it so far. So currently, whatever the individual reason is, the choice to become a member of our prestigious military is a personal and optional one.

Today's military is quite different than that of our fathers', grandfathers' and even those who went before them. It still entails a great deal of hard work, dedication and pride, however there are presently greater options for members of today's armed forces. These include advancements in such areas as education, private-sector employment and of course, the decision to allow women to hold combat positions.

Housing has also advanced in leaps and bounds. The familiar barracks of the old days are quickly being replaced with full-featured 'installations' that include modern accommodations, sports arenas and other recreational opportunities on the grounds, as well as family support in the areas of counseling, education, medicine and more.

And although our military processes have come under quite a bit of scrutiny over the past few years, being a part of any of the five main sectors of the United States Armed Forces can provide a challenging and rewarding lifestyle. Whether it be the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force or Coast Guard, members can look forward to long or short-term careers with benefits that can last throughout their (and their family's) lifetimes just for holding that veteran status.

Every opportunity has its pros and cons and life in the military is of course, no different. If you're considering a new career direction or just want to learn more about it, there is an abundance of information available online to assist in making the best choice for you.

A Look at Indian Made Pistols and Revolvers

India is a large country - often referred to as a sub continent. It is the dominant power in SE Asia and has a standing armed force of over 1.2 million. But the early years after independence saw the political leadership led by Nehru give very little importance to the armed forces which continued with obsolete weapons like the first war vintage .303 rifle (bolt action) and an assorted range of revolvers imported from the UK and some other countries. As a corollary the small arms industry also suffered and no weapons were manufactured in India.

The 1962 debacle of the Indian army at the hand of the Chinese changed all that and the Indian leadership steeped in non violence and utopian Gandhian thought had perforce to change course. The result was that the weaponry of the Indian armed forces was upgrade. The government also set up a spate of ordinance factories under the department of defense production, which in turn was a part of the defense ministry. Presently there are about 40 Ordnance Factories which come under the control of Ordnance Factory board which is located at Delhi. These factories now manufacture revolvers and pistols for the armed forces. The weapons are also available in the civil market and any Indian with a valid arms license can buy these guns from the outlets of the Indian ordinance depots.

The ordinance factories manufacture pistols and revolvers. The weapons manufactured are the FN Browning GP35 a 9mm pistol. There is another type of pistol manufactured which is copy of the Pistol manufactured in Canada by John Inglis. These are high power pistols and are freely available. There is no restrictions on their purchase, but the weapon has to be booked with the ordinance depot and the cost of the weapon paid up front. The weapon which is priced at about $1500 is made available to the buyer in about 2/3 months after the weapon is booked. Another variant of the pistol manufactured is the Glock17 another 9mm pistol. This pistol forms part of the armory of the special protection group that guards the Prime Minister and other important personages of the Indian state.

The Indian ordinance factories also manufacture a six chamber revolver. They manufacture the.38 as well as the.32 range of weapons. The .38 is exclusively for the armed forces and is characterized as a prohibited bore weapon. The .32 revolver however can be sold to a civilian and is also priced similar to pistol at about $1500. The .32 caliber revolver which is also referred to as IOF Mk1 is clearly copied from the famous Webley Scott revolver of the UK. The Indian made revolver weighs .70kg.

The quality of the pistols and revolvers definitely needs improvement. A general look will show that the Indian made small arms are inferior as far as their get up and looks is concerned, compared to weapons made in the advanced western world. The finish is poor and the government owned ordinance factories do not have a quality control check in place. The pistol particularly the ones marketed for civil use are prone to jamming while in use. These defects have resulted in the Indian made weapons being confined only to India. Foreign nations have not evinced any interest in the Indian made pistols or revolvers. The functioning of the Indian made revolvers is a shade better, but they also can do with a better finish. One of the marketing pivots is referred to as the esteem value. It is the look of the end product. The ordinance factories will do well to address this lacuna in the small arms manufactured by them.

The ordinance factories are also churning out other arms including rifles for the Indian Army. Quite a few rifles have been sold to the Nepal army. However the Indian made hand held revolvers and pistols have a long way to go to match the exacting standards of other countries. The ordinance factories come in the Public sector and are government owned. Perhaps a way out to address the better quality of the weapons is to privatize these factories and allow the private manufacturers to enter this arena.

If You Love Your Freedom - Thank A Veteran

So goes the saying on thousands of signs and bumper stickers across North America.

If you sport one of these signs or stickers, or if you just agree with that slogan, here's your chance to say your thanks in a way that our veterans, past, present and future will appreciate.

The Canadian Federal Government is clawing back a significant portion of the pension benefits of our Military and RCMP Veterans. This is happening at a time when these people can least afford it. The claw back is effective when the veteran turns 65 years age, or earlier if they are injured and begin drawing their Canada Pension Plan benefits.

However, politicians, who get their "Gold Plated" pension after only six years in office, have exempted themselves from the claw back while leaving the claw back in place for our veterans. Veterans who have served the country with loyalty and dedication. Veterans who have been willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and safety. Veterans who have served for 20 and 30 and sometime more than 40 years in order to receive their pension.

If you're Canadian, go to the link below, read the text of the petition carefully and check out some of the comments of the people who have already signed this petition. If after doing so, you disagree with the claw back, and feel that our Military and RCMP Veterans deserve their full pension, then say "Thank You" by adding your name to the petition, including any comments that you feel are appropriate.

Does Crime Pay?

Crime is defined as "a breach of a rule or law for which a punishment may ultimately be prescribed by some governing authority or force" (Crime). What if crime did not exist? Who would fund public works? How many professions would not exist? Would the county require more funding from federal and state grants? Among other things, isn't it true that the derivative of crime is financial punishment? Is crime financially detrimental or beneficial to society? In this case study the authors will attempt to answer these questions. Using a sample, the authors will prove that the funds derived from crime offset the cost of crime. Furthermore, this report will provide the findings of a detailed analysis of the cost- benefit relationship, which includes the financial impact and benefit that crime imposes on society. In this report it will be determined that crime acts as an economic stimulant. Rather than focusing on the morality of crime, the authors will focus on the financial and economic impact of criminal activity.

The first step in the process was to select a sample to analyze. The sample size became important because it needed to be an accurate representation of the population. The authors chose Chester County, Pa because of its relevancy to West Chester University. Next, the authors gathered and compiled multiple financial statements. These included the Statements of Disbursements and Receipts from each district court along with the Chester County Budget. For the purpose of finding revenues and costs directly or indirectly related to crime, the data was extracted from these documents (Refer to Exhibit 1).

The formulated crime "income statement," constructed by the authors, proved their financial assumptions to be truthful and accurate. The finalized "income statement" stated that revenues and costs were nearly equal. Therefore, the cost of crime directly offsets the revenues derived from crime. Furthermore, Chester County encountered a realized gain of approximately two million dollars. Based on this analysis, it is fair to state that crime is slightly financially beneficial to Chester County. This idea concludes that no extra state or government funding would be necessary if crime did not exist. One must be advised that during the analytical process the authors were forced to make reasonable and fair estimations because of the lack of specific information and resources. In order to be as accurate as possible, the authors separated the costs into their respective categories based on civil and criminal cases reported by the magisterial district courts. (Refer to Exhibit 1, *1). The general health and well-being of a community is important to all residents of Chester County. A stable economy is essential for positive resident/county relationships. Crime stimulates the local economy in many ways. The economic benefits directly and indirectly related to crimes are countless. The authors decided to cite a few of these benefits.

First, in determining the effect crime has on public works, two aspects must be considered. One is that public works are funded by state and federal grants and not revenues received from criminals. Therefore, one would believe crime has no effect on public works. Or does it? Community service is another form of punishment that usually parallels financial reprimands. In fact non- violent criminals contribute their labor to the economy and other public betterment projects. This "free labor" ensures the completion of public works and the overall well being of the community. If a monetary amount can be allotted to community service, then the excess public work cost above community service revenue can only be funded by the state Secondly, there are many jobs that are directly related to the existence of crime. These professions most commonly range from lawyers, judges, and law enforcement/ probation/ parole officers, to prison security and corrections officers. Most of these local municipality jobs provide decent salaries and life long employee benefits to their respective employees. The average salaries of uniformed police officers range from forty to sixty thousand dollars annually, not including bonuses and overtime (Police Patrol Officer). Lawyers who practice law for more than four years on average make ninety thousand dollars, forcing them into a higher tax bracket (Salary Survey). Without crime high paying jobs would move toward extinction. Therefore, the county would receive less tax payments. Most lawyers are not collecting salaries from the local government, yet they make a decent living. With no more crime, lawyers, judges and law enforcement officers may still exist for civil matters, but not at their current capacity.

Other major professions that would be affected by the elimination of crime are the U.S. Armed Forces. Many Marines, Army, Air Force and Navy personnel reside in Chester County, including one of the authors, Marine Corporal Cianci. In fact, there is an Army National Guard base located in the center of West Chester, Pa. Without crime there would be a decline in the capacity of the armed forces. The loss or decrease of these crime dependent jobs would damage the local economy. The education system is another entity that is affected by crime. Chester county colleges such as West Chester University, Penn State Great Valley, and Immaculata University are well known for their criminal justice programs. Without crime, classrooms would be empty and teachers would be unemployed. Universities would be forced to downsize. The criminal justice curriculum would cease to produce revenues. Universities that base their curriculum strictly on law would be disseminated. Finally, the reader must consider how manufacturing plants affect the local economy. Law enforcement officers drive specifically manufactured vehicles that aid their crime fighting abilities and even make it possible. These vehicles are equipped with lights, sirens, and custom made seats. Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler are the three major U.S. car manufactures responsible for law enforcement vehicle assembly (Police Cars). If crime were to be eliminated the manufacturing segment of the economy would be tarnished. Decreased manufacturing would lead to a decrease in the Gross Domestic Product. The principles of economics determine that manufacturing facilities harbored in the United States provide a greater economic benefit than imported vehicles.

The authors' examinations determined beyond reasonable doubt that crime influences economic infrastructure. Without crime an intricate slice of the economic pie would be missing. The most important form of influence results from the cash flow that crime creates. The revenues pulled in by district courts, which is disbursed to the state and redistributed, benefits individual communities and the county as a whole. It is critical to reiterate the jobs and opportunities that stem from crime.

Now, consider the previously established definition of crime. This definition is an essential element in determining the "other" financial and economic benefits crime provides. At this point one may be thinking, "where is this going?"

Thus far, the authors have focused on the action of crime and the "law's" reaction. The "law" includes all legal and judicial persons of who associate themselves around the legality of criminality. What about crime that is financially punishable by private institutions? These privately owned institutions include college universities, banks, apartment complexes, residential communities, libraries, movie/game rental franchises, medical/dental establishments, and trash/recycling entities. The privately owned establishments are the governing force. Therefore the crimes, not punishable by the court of law, are breaches of rules consequently resulting in fines and fees. These fines and fees are collected for cancellation charges, late returns, late payments, "no shows," and bank overdrafts. Furthermore, these revenues are cost free. They could be characterized as pure profit without expense. In some cases they even reduce cost.

In the case of late fees the governing force is the college university. Yes, the university is state funded, but the tuition late fee payment benefits the school. Does all of this not fuel the economy? Finally the authors will examine the privately owned drug and alcohol clinics and classes that one must take to avoid a conviction and escape sentencing. These establishments including COAD (Chester County Council on Addictive Diseases), located in Exton, Pa, are individual entities, separate from the state, and do not include their revenues in the Chester County budgets. For example, COAD charges an individual arrested for driving under the influence approximately three hundred dollars for enrollment in local government mandated classes. The compilation of such money stimulates the local economy and influences a greater enhancement of the Chester County community relationship.

In conclusion it would be vindictive to assume that crime is strictly detrimental with regards Chester County's financial stability and economic infrastructure. In order to tie everything together one must imagine the big picture. The cash flow cycle responsible to crime has a deep impact on the local economy. Does crime pay? Yes crime pays for itself, and also provides an economic benefit to Chester County and its subsidiaries.

(Exhibit 1) Chester County, Pennsylvania, 2006-Revenues from crime received by law enforcement and court authority $51,026,376. Cost that would be eliminated without crime $56,328,802. Gross income equals $2,309,780.

Data was retrieved from the 2006 Chester County Budget. The cost ratio's were determined based on the stated Chester County civil/criminal ratio which equaled: 12% civil and 88% criminal. There was not enough information or resources to separate fixed and variable costs into their respective components.

The Ulster Troubles (Part 2 of 24)

The Troubles consisted of about 30 years of repeated acts of intense violence between elements of Northern Ireland's Nationalist community (principally Roman Catholic) and Unionist community (principally Protestant). The conflict was caused by the disputed status of Northern Ireland within the United Kingdom, and the alleged domination of the minority nationalist community, and discrimination against, by the unionist majority. The violence was characterised by the armed campaigns of paramilitary groups. Most notable of these was the Provisional IRA campaign 1969--1997 which was aimed at the end of British rule in Northern Ireland and the creation of a new all-Ireland Irish Republic. In response to this campaign and the perceived erosion of the British character and unionist domination of Northern Ireland, loyalist paramilitaries such as the UVF and UDA launched their own campaigns against the nationalist population. The state security forces - the British Army and the police (the Royal Ulster Constabulary) - were also involved in the violence. The British government point of view is that its forces were neutral in the conflict and trying to uphold law and order in the North. Irish republicans, however, regarded the state forces as "combatants" in the conflict and point to evidence of repeated collusion between the state forces and the loyalists as proof of this. Alongside the violence, there was a political deadlock between the major political parties in Northern Ireland ...

Sikorsky - X2 Raider™ Prototypes [720p]

20 Oct 2010 : West Palm Beach, Florida - Sikorsky Aircraft will design, build and fly two prototype light tactical helicopters as the follow-on advancement to the X2 TechnologyTM demonstrator aircraft that unofficially shattered the helicopter world speed record here in September with a flight speed of 250 knots (463 km/h). The decision to continue development of the next-generation rotary wing technology will enable Sikorsky and select suppliers to offer the high speed X2 prototype vehicles for flight test and evaluation by US armed forces. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX). "Having proved the X2 Technology design to ourselves, we have full confidence we can now mature the technology for the US Army's light armed reconnaissance helicopter size," said Sikorsky President Jeffrey Pino. "Self funding the design of a brand new light tactical helicopter -- the Sikorsky S-97 -- and manufacturing two prototypes we have designated as the Raider™ X2 helicopter will help military aviation evaluate the viability of a fast and maneuverable next generation rotorcraft for a variety of combat missions." In March 2010, Sikorsky submitted an X2 aircraft design to the Army's Armed Aerial Scout (AAS) program in response to a request for information. The AAS program is currently conducting an analysis of alternatives for the Army's next armed reconnaissance helicopter. Like the X2 Technology demonstrator that broke the helicopter speed record, the X2 ...

Violent Crime in America

For families and individuals residing in America the threat
of violent crime is a fear that we all have to live with.
Just pick up your local newspaper or turn on your T.V. and
see the headlines of murder, rape and assaults reported from
coast to coast. There is an answer to the realization that
you may be a victim of a violent crime, and that is to be
prepared to defend yourself should you find yourself in a
situation that warrants it.

A crime of violence or violent crime is a crime in which the
attacker or offender uses or threatens to use violence or
violent force against the victim. These include crimes in
which the violent act is the objective of the attack, such
as murder, along with crimes in which violence is the means
to an end, such as robbery. Males are the primary victims of
crimes of violence, with the exception of rape which
accounts for 6 percent of all violent crimes.

There are four offenses that are considered to be violent
crimes; they are murder and non-negligent manslaughter,
forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. These
violent crimes may also involve the use of force or the
threat of force.

In 2004, there were an estimated 1,367,009 violent crimes
reported in the United States. Of these, aggravated assaults
comprised over 62 percent of all reported crimes, robbery
over 29 percent, forcible rape or sexual assault over 6
percent, and murder comprises a little over 1 percent of all
reported violent crimes.

Here are a few alarming statistics about Violent Crime in
the U.S.

1. Over 94,000 forcible rapes were reported in 2004 an
increase of 4.9 percent since the year 2000. Approximately 6
out of 100 females in the United States will be a victim of
forcible rape.

2. Over 16,000 murders were reported in 2004 an increase of
3.5 percent since 2000, but showed a decline in the number
of murders reported in 2003.

3. There were over 850,000 aggravated assaults reported in
the United States in 2004. This crime usually has the
highest percentage of incidents reported each year. But
research has shown a steady decrease in aggravated assault
occurrences for the last 11 years.

4. In 2004 there were over 400,000 robberies reported in the USA,
robbery is defined by the Uniform Crime Reporting Program (UCR)
as the taking or attempting to take anything of value from the
care, custody, or control of a person or persons by force or
threat of force or violence and by putting the victim in
fear.

Now that you are aware of these statistics, and the need for
people in America to have the ability to protect themselves
from violent crimes, or if you are concerned about your
personal safety or the safety of your family, then stay

Security Jobs at a Glance

Security guards need to be fit not only physically but also mentally to deal with the different responsibilities their job entails. They need to look at situations, people or scenarios to detect unusual patterns. Then they must decide what action to take, which may vary depending on where they work. If irregular activity is caught on video, guards may need to notify police. On the other hand, security guards who patrol premises by foot or car need to be ready to use force.

Guards are usually armed in places where a there is a high risk of theft or other criminal activity. The minimum requirement to get a job as an armed security guard is a high school diploma or equivalent. However, most states require guards to obtain a license to carry a gun. Additional training, like weapons retention or laws covering the use of force, may be required by the employer as they are legally responsible for any use of force on their premises.

An increasing number of states are requiring guards to receive periodical training for them to preserve their license. This also helps guards to be up-to-date with the latest security trends and informed about new criminal behaviors. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, guards may be trained in protection, public relations, report writing, crisis deterrence, first aid and other topics depending on their specific needs.

ASIS, an organization dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals, recommends that security guards receive at least 48 hours of training within the first 100 days of employment. ASIS also suggests that guards be tested on different topics, like sharing information with law enforcement, crime prevention, handling evidence, the use of force, court testimony, report writing, interpersonal and communication skills, and emergency response procedures.

Guards need to be tolerant and patient to reassure their specific employers as well as the broader community that everything is under control. Nervous and insecure guards may use irrelevant information to make decisions, which may cause anxiety and unrest. In some instances the guard might be the sole representative of an institution; therefore his professional attitude will promote the company's credibility.

Most security jobs are sought by people who need a flexible work schedule or a second job. Although the level of stress at work is usually low, some jobs can be hazardous at times. Theft is perhaps the most common crime that security guards will handle. Additionally, youths who are learning who they are by experimenting with violent behavior may also pose a threat to guards. Yet, as organizations spend more on their safety measures, the BLS expects that the number of jobs in security will rise in the coming years.

The Battle Doesn't End With Miniature Toy Army Men Sets

Green toy army men are what most young boys first play with. These youngsters would love to own a set of army toys. The figurines are usually two inches in length and classified as an American icon. Many parents regret the day they have made the decision to present this kind of toys which are sold in a bucket or a large bag to their children as these little toy men are often left scattered when they come home.

The tiny toy soldiers have been around since the year 1930 and were originally constructed from metal. To produce more affordable miniature toys, plastic was then used after the Second World War. These toy soldiers have the traditional green color that represents the uniforms of the US Army. Other colors of these miniature toys have come out in the 1960's to represent the opponents of the US in the Second World War which are in grey and yellow.

Most of today's army men toys are still designed and created with the uniform styles in the World War II. However, sets with modern uniforms and the uniforms in the Vietnam War are also available. In addition, it is ironic that many of these US Army toy soldiers are made by companies outside the United States. Majority of the green army toy men displayed on shelves are manufactured in the facilities of China.

Toy soldiers have also appeared popularly in the cinema. One toy soldier appears with the slinky dog and Mr. Potato Head in the interesting movie entitled Toy Story. The first main job of the soldiers in the first Toy Story movie was surveillance on the new toys that have come up for Christmas. In the sequel of the Toy Story, the toy soldiers have returned for a minor role wherein they need to recover the hat of Woody from the toy box and hold the bedroom door open for Buster. In the third Toy Story movie, they were featured prominently.

Only three of the original 200 soldiers have remained in the third Toy Story movie. Their appearance was highlighted in the last few days of their life in the room of the boy named Andy. The green army men have once again become popular as they made their appearance in several movies and with the use of YouTube. Amateur filmmakers are able to recreate a number of scenes in the classic battlefield with the affordability of these figurines combined with the many positions available.

The store shelves would not run out of these toy army men sets since these are an American classic. They are always an all-time collectible for boys. Hunson retails a 150-piece set and the army men set in Combat Mission has 1,000 pieces.

Md Roofing Services: Pipe Collar Repair on Roof in Bowie, MD

1. First, the existing shingles being removed are cut just above the "keyways" with a hook blade knife, then the roofing nails are carefully removed so as not to tear the shingles. 2. Next, the nails on the leaking plastic pipe collar are removed with a pry bar -- then the collar itself is removed. 3. After cleaning the surface and installing two new base shingles, the new collar is placed over the PVC pipe and secured with 1-1/4" roofing nails. 4. A sealing bead of Geocel Tripolymer Sealant is placed in a circular ark around the collar as an added barrier to water and wind driven rain. 5. New Certainteed XT25 shingles are properly cut and nailed into place. 6. Shingle tabs are sealed with Geocel to prevent leaks and "blow offs". Note: The replacement shingles installed by www.HomeRestorationsMD.com look slightly "off color" due to the packing material used in the manufacturing process; one light rain and the shingles will match the old ones almost perfectly.
